We love the idea of just opening a Word document or a fresh email and just writing the perfect message. But like, in what universe does that actually happen? Writing and editing is one of those “love it or hate it” kind of things with no in-between. We’ve written this guide for those of you in the “hate it” camp. 

This Guide Will Give You Tips To:

• Actually put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard

From The Guide:

• Don’t start with a blank page. Only wacky people can just pour out beautiful prose onto a white screen. We sometimes start with a formal template (more on that in a different post), but sometimes we just find some random paragraphs of text and just paste it right at the top. There, much less intimidating.
• Edit for repetition. Our brains are wired for patterns and sometimes that means we repeat words or phrases in our writing. That may be beneficial if you are focused on some keywords for SEO, but it’s a good idea to mix things up a bit. We often rewrite to avoid using the same words and phrases within the same sentences and paragraphs. We may even count to make sure we don’t use the same words more than three times in the whole piece (unless it’s super long like a book). 
• Edit for flow. This one is a little more nuanced, but we like to read our work out loud. You often catch things that might interrupt the flow for your reader, possibly disrupting a sale. Ugh! We always recommend writing like you speak because we’re all humans. Have you ever tried it? It feels weird at first, but it helps immensely.
